The Telling Project produces “Telling,” an innovative theatrical production in which military veterans and their families, after extensive interviews, performance training and rehearsal, stage the ‘telling’ of their stories of life in the military for their communities. The project is a response to widespread public ignorance of the immediate impact of war on individuals and communities, an ignorance posing difficulties for soldiers transitioning back to civilian life, and compromising robust civic engagement on the part of the civilian population. The Telling Project holds no political view as regards the military or its actions. We believe that public understanding of the experiences of soldiers is vital to the functioning of a free society. Our work gives veterans the opportunity to speak, and civilians the chance to listen.

The Telling Project is coming to Austin, Texas Spring 2013! In the meantime, you can follow all the pre-production action right here. Watch as the ‘telling’ process unfolds with picture and video updates. We’ll also keep you posted on calls for interviews, showtimes, and other local opportunities for Veterans. Please feel free to leave comments and ask questions at any time.
